Penne Pasta with Bacon and Peas Recipe

A deliciously comforting dish of pasta with bacon and peas, lightly cooked penne pasta, coated with a cream parmesan sauce, flavoured with crispy bacon, spring onions and peas. This simple pasta dish is finished with chopped parsley and served with garlic bread .

Recipe Ingreds

Pasta

  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 15 grams butter
  • 3 sprig fresh parsley
  • 20 grams parmesan or pecorino cheese
  • 150 grams frozen peas
  • 150 grams penne pasta
  • salt (to taste)
  • 150 ml single cream
  • 3 whole spring onions
  • 90 grams bacon (smoked)

Bread

  • 1 stick garlic bread

Recipe with pictures Steps

Step 1

  • half fill a medium pan with water and boil
  • add the pasta to the boiling water and cook until tender but with a slight bite

Step 2

  • set the oven to 180C 350F or gas mark 4
  • put the garlic bread on the baking tray and place in the oven follow cooking instructions on packaging

Step 3

  • cut the bacon into squares
  • wash and finely chop the fresh parsley
  • wash and finely slice the spring onions
  • grate the parmesan

Step 4

  • heat the frying pan
  • dry fry the bacon till crisp
  • set a side keep warm

Step 5

  • heat the frying pan
  • cut the butter into cubes
  • add the butter to the frying pan
  • add the spring onions
  • cook till soft

Step 6

  • add the peas to the frying pan
  • cook for a minute or two
  • Add the cream
  • mix the ingredients
  • heat through until the sauce thickens

Step 7

  • add the cheese to the frying pan
  • add the bacon
  • season with salt and pepper

Step 8

  • reserve a few tbsps of cooking liquid from the pasta
  • drain the pasta
  • rinse the pasta in cold water
  • return to the heat and gently warm through
  • add the pasta to the bacon mixture
  • cook for 3 to 4 mins
  • if the sauce is a bit thick add the reserved pasta water, just enough for the correct consistency

Step 9

  • remove garlic bread from the oven

Step 10

  • place the pasta on a serving plate
  • with the garlic bread
  • Sprinkle with parsley

How to make pasta with bacon and peas

This simple bacon penne dish is incredibly easy to cook, the pasta is cooked al dente and the bacon is fried till crisp .
